Pop Science Enamel Pins Kickstarter Campaign

The Pop Science Enamel Pins Kickstarter campaign was a celebration of STEM and its inspiring figures, designed to spark curiosity and conversation. As both an artist and a lifelong science enthusiast, I wanted to merge my passions and create something meaningful—a collection of jeweler-quality enamel pins featuring some of the most iconic minds in science.

The collection featured six meticulously designed pins, each crafted with polished metal linings, vibrant hard enamel, and a unified backer card for a sleek and cohesive presentation. At 1.5 inches, these pins were bold, eye-catching, and perfect for showcasing one’s love for science on a bag, coat, or hat. Each design aimed to honor the legacy of these figures while celebrating the importance of STEM in our lives.

One standout element of the campaign was the limited-edition Vera Rubin memorial pin, part of Kickstarter’s #MAKE100 initiative. This pin, crafted in black nickel with starry glitter details, paid tribute to a trailblazing astronomer who advanced our understanding of dark matter and championed women in STEM. The campaign also included other notable designs, such as Carl Sagan and Neil deGrasse Tyson, creating a diverse collection that resonated with backers.

Throughout the campaign, I made thoughtful adjustments based on backer feedback, including redesigning the backer cards to streamline production and eliminate unnecessary costs. These changes allowed me to offer all six designs at an accessible price point and provide backers with more flexibility in their rewards.

The Pop Science Enamel Pins campaign not only succeeded in delivering high-quality, visually stunning designs but also fostered a sense of community among science enthusiasts. By combining creativity with a meaningful theme, I was able to craft a project that honored the figures who inspire us to reach for the stars while celebrating the importance of science in everyday life. This campaign marked the beginning of a larger vision to expand the Pop Science series and continue shining a light on the brilliance of STEM.
